Congrats on the velvet sofa! I have one in deep emerald, and what worked for me was adding some contrast with light, neutral tones like beige and soft gray. For textures, you can never go wrong with chunky knit throws or faux fur cushions—they create a nice balance with the smoothness of velvet.

Velvet is such a luxurious fabric! I’d suggest adding metallic accents to really elevate the look. Gold or brass lamps, picture frames, or side tables can bring out the richness of the fabric. I paired mine with a glass coffee table and some jewel-toned pillows (think sapphire blue or mustard) for a bold statement.

I styled my velvet sofa with some soft linen pillows in neutral shades like cream and taupe. It helps tone down the intensity of the velvet while adding texture. A textured rug—think jute or wool—underneath the sofa also creates a cozy yet elegant vibe.

Velvet works great with a mix of textures! Try pairing it with leather—like a brown leather ottoman or accent chairs. For colors, if your sofa is dark, go for lighter wood finishes in furniture to balance the look, and don’t forget some greenery! Plants in large ceramic or metallic planters can soften the space.

If your velvet sofa is a bold color, I’d say go for muted, earthy tones like clay, olive green, or even charcoal to complement it. If you want something more daring, pair it with other rich hues like burgundy or mustard. I also love layering different textiles—maybe throw in some woven cushions or a chunky knit blanket for a tactile contrast.
