DESCRIPTION
This beautiful small version is made as a tribute to an ancient roman statue of greek origin. This statue belonged to the Medici collection and it can now be found at the Uffizi Museums in Florence. This small-size reproduction was crafted by talented Romanelli Gallery artisans in plaster. The two fighting figures with missing arms and legs are very accurate copies of their original size. It is interesting that some fragments from the original cast still can be seen deliberately left visible so as to show the process of creation and also the nature of this material. By doing so the artists want people to realize how much work was put into making this piece of art and at the same time give them an opportunity for reflecting upon history as well as changes in sculpting technique over time period.
