DESCRIPTION
On a metal stand, this beautiful work of art has been carefully modeled after one section of bronze from “Laocoon and His Sons”, a famous group of marble sculptures held at the Vatican Museum in Rome. Shaped like a mask, it represents the haunted face of the main character Laocoon who was a priest of Troy according to mythology. The story shows us how Poseidon sent two sea-serpents to strangle Laocoon together with his sons because they had warned against bringing the Wooden Horse inside the city walls as a trick. By using perfect details coupled with expressions full of suffering skillfully brought out by the artist, this item creates an amazing effect which can only be described as poignant; thus drawing any observer deeper into an ancient legend filled with sorrow.
